Gregg Turner at the BARN

Gregg Turner (angry samoans) arrived in Questa last week to record 10 songs for his upcoming record: Gregg Turner Plays the Hits. Along with Santa Fe session drummer, Britt Alexander, Gregg brought Billy Miller: visionary Lyricist & electric-autoharp wielder supreme.

Fueled by a constant supply of Starbucks Mocha Double-Shot ENERGY, Billy takes off to the 'place that's always ahead of its time' & leaves us with psychedelic hooks of the highest order. Anne Speroni (Art of Flying) played bass. Look for this release at a record-store (YES! they still exist) near you soon.

Chris Schoen Records Baudelaire Translations

Charles Pierre Baudelaire (French: [ʃaʁl bodlɛʁ]; April 9, 1821 – August 31, 1867) was a French poet who produced notable work as an essayist, art critic, and pioneering translator of Edgar Allan Poe. His most famous work, Les Fleurs du mal(The Flowers of Evil), expresses the changing nature of beauty in modern, industrializing Paris during the 19th century.

8 new translations from the poems of Charles Baudelaire were set to music last week at the barn. Chris has been working on these translations for the last 2 years along with co-conspirator/visual-artist Dave Buchen, who adds turning scrolls as visuals to the finished pieces. (see an example HERE)... For this recording Chris was joined by Anne Speroni from Art of Flying on bass & piano & Heather Trost from Hawk & a Hacksaw on violin & accordion.
